Abstract:
The Venus application is an information system utilized by PT Pertamina International
Shipping to support the administrative management of crew members, specifically
regarding the monitoring and verification of document completeness during crew change
processes. This study was conducted because issues persisted—such as delayed document
uploads, incomplete documentation, and a lack of crew understanding regarding the
application's usage—which hindered shipboard operations. A descriptive qualitative
research method was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and
documentation review. Data analysis utilized the Fishbone diagram technique to identify
the root causes of the problems.
The study results indicate that the Venus application plays a vital role in enhancing the
effectiveness of document management through features that monitor document validity,
verify information, and facilitate integrated data updates. Identified obstacles include
insufficient training and awareness-raising, the absence of a user manual, and varying
levels of digital competence among the crew. The study concludes that the utilization of
the Venus application can be optimized through regular training and Computer-Based
Training (CBT) sessions, the provision of a user manual, and improved monitoring of
application usage, thereby ensuring document completeness and a more effective crew
change process.
