Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the influence of waiting-time and seafarers' career
development on the continuity of employment contracts at PT Dewi Sri Maritim. The
research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method involving 30 seafarers
selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and
analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS version 30.
The results indicate that waiting-time has a significant effect on employment
contract continuity, with a t-value of 56.921 and a significance level of less than 0.05.
Seafarers' career development also has a significant effect on employment contract
continuity, with a t-value of 5.655 and a significance level of less than 0.05.
Simultaneously, both variables significantly affect employment contract continuity, with
an F-value of 40.640 and a significance value of 0.000. The coefficient of determination
(R2) of 0.751 indicates that 75.1% of the variation in employment contract continuity can
be explained by waiting-time and seafarers' career development, while the remaining
24.9% is influenced by other factors outside the scope of this study.
