Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the effect of the implementation of the Internet of Things
(IoT)-based replacement crew system on the efficiency of human resource management (HR)
at PT Berlian Laju Tanker. The shipping industry faces complex challenges in crew rotation
management that demand timeliness, accurate documentation, and operational cost
efficiency. Given the crucial role of crew replacement in maintaining operational stability,
the integration of digital technology is a must.
This study uses a quantitative approach with a simple linear regression analysis
method. Data was collected through a questionnaire distributed to 50 respondents within PT
Berlian Laju Tanker. The research variables consisted of an IoT-based crew replacement
system as an independent variable (X) and HR management efficiency as a dependent
variable (Y). The results of the analysis show that there is a positive and significant influence
between the use of IoT-based replacement crews on the efficiency of human resource
management. Statistically, significance values (0.001 < 0.05) and t-count values (44.025)
greater than t-table (2.010) prove that alternative hypotheses (Ha) are accepted. These
findings indicate that the implementation of IoT technology makes a real contribution to
minimizing manual administrative work, improving data accuracy, and optimizing strategic
decision-making processes related to crew placement.
Based on the results of the research, the author recommends PT Berlian Laju Tanker
to fully integrate the human resource management system (Human Resource Management
System) with the ship's operational system and optimize the features of the early warning
system in the IoT module. The proactive implementation of this system is expected to prevent
sign-off delays and maintain the company's operational stability in a sustainable manner.
