PENGARUH KESELAMATAN PEMANDUAN TERHADAP OPERASIONAL KAPAL PADA PT LANGLANG LAJU KAYANG DI WILAYAH KERJA PERAIRAN WEDA

Abstract

Pilotage safety is a critical factor in maritime operations, particularly in compulsory pilotage waters characterized by narrow and shallow channels such as the Weda Waters. This study aims to determine the effect of pilotage safety on ship operations and to assess its contribution at PT. Langlang Laju Layang within the Working Area of Weda Waters. A descriptive quantitative method was employed using a survey approach through questionnaires. The research sample consisted of a number of respondents who are employees of the company. Data were analyzed using validity testing, reliability testing, correlation coefficient analysis, simple linear regression, coefficient of determination, and hypothesis testing. The results indicate that the correlation coefficient falls into the very strong and positive category, signifying a very close relationship between pilotage safety and ship operations. Hypothesis testing proves that pilotage safety has a significant effect on ship operations, as the computed t-value exceeds the t-table value, leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis and acceptance of the alternative hypothesis. The coefficient of determination reveals that pilotage safety makes a substantial contribution to ship operations, while the remaining portion is influenced by other factors outside the scope of this study. In conclusion, enhancing safety standards in pilotage activities has been proven to improve the smoothness and efficiency of ship operations at PT. Langlang Laju Layang; therefore, the company must prioritize safety as a core principle in every pilotage service.
