Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the influence of barge towing operation management on the
operational performance of vessels at PT Dian Ciptamas Agung, Berau Branch, East
Borneo. The research background is based on the high work risk in transshipment
operations, the occurrence of towing barge incidents, and the decline in productivity and
efficiency due to poor operational management. This research uses a descriptive
quantitative method. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and
questionnaires distributed to 95 respondents, consisting of ship crew members and
employees. The independent variable in this study is barge towing operation management
(X), which includes the dimensions of planning, organizing, directing, and controlling.
The dependent variable is the operational performance of vessels (Y), which includes
productivity, safety, work coordination, as well as maintenance and repair. The results of
the simple linear regression analysis show a positive and significant influence of barge
towing operation management on vessel operational performance. The coefficient of
determination value of 71.9% indicates that the operational management variable
significantly contributes to the improvement of vessel operational performance. This
study recommends the need to enhance operational planning, crew training, as well as
regular monitoring and evaluation in towing operations.
