This study aims to analyze the effect of pre-on board education provided by the crewing
division on the level of crew compliance in implementing occupational safety and security at
PT Bisco Manajemen Indonesia. Pre-on board education is an important stage in preparing
crew members before assignment in order to improve their understanding of operational
procedures, safety, and security on board. Although the company has implemented educational
activities prior to departure, several challenges are still encountered, such as less-than-optimal
delivery of educational materials, differences in the level of understanding among crew
members, and ongoing violations of safety and security regulations. This study employed a
quantitative research method with data collection techniques including observation,
questionnaires, documentation, and literature review involving 30 respondents at PT Bisco
Manajemen Indonesia. Data analysis was conducted using validity testing, reliability testing,
correlation coefficient analysis, simple linear regression, coefficient of determination, and
hypothesis testing. The results of the analysis indicate that pre-on board education has an
influence on crew compliance in implementing occupational safety and security. Educational
activities carried out in a structured manner and adjusted to operational needs are able to
improve crew members’ understanding of safety procedures, work discipline, and compliance
with company regulations and maritime standards. This study is expected to provide both
theoretical and practical contributions in improving the effectiveness of crew development
programs and supporting the establishment of a more optimal safety culture within the maritime
industry. |
