This study was motivated by the increasing flow of passengers at Ahmad Yani Port,
Ternate, which requires embarkation and debarkation services that are efficient and able
to ensure passenger safety. This study aims to analyze the level of efficiency of
passenger embarkation and debarkation activities and to examine their effect on
passenger safety. The theoretical foundation used includes the concepts of influence,
operational efficiency, passenger safety, Systems Theory, and a literature review of
previous studies on passenger services at ports. This study employed a quantitative
method with a survey approach. Data were collected through questionnaires,
observation, documentation, and literature study. The research sample consisted of 120
domestic sea transport passengers at the Passenger Terminal of Ahmad Yani Port,
Ternate. The results showed that the efficiency of embarkation and debarkation
activities was in the high category with an average score of 3.868, while passenger
safety was also in the high category with an average score of 3.947. The efficiency of
embarkation and debarkation activities had a positive and significant effect on passenger
safety, with the regression equation Y = 5.552 + 0.561X, a t-value of 16.924, and an R²
value of 0.708. Thus, improving service efficiency makes a real contribution to
enhancing passenger safety. |
