Conveyor belts are the primary means of coal distribution from stockpiles to shiploaders
at PT. Indominco Mandiri Bontang. Repeated conveyor failures hamper the coal loading
process and reduce loading performance. This study aims to analyze the causes of
conveyor failures, factors contributing to long repair times, and the impact of conveyor
downtime on coal loading performance. The research method used was descriptive
qualitative through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review. The
results indicate that conveyor failures are caused by component wear, high operational
intensity, and suboptimal preventive maintenance implementation. Long repair times are
influenced by limited technicians, spare part availability, and the complexity of the
conveyor system. The resulting impacts include increased downtime of up to 8 hours, a
decrease in the loading rate from the target of 4,000 tons/hour to 3,000 tons/hour, and
decreased loading operational efficiency. Possible improvements include increasing
preventive maintenance, ensuring spare part availability, improving human resource
competency, and regularly monitoring conveyor conditions. |
