Abstract:
This research is motivated by the high demand for electricity in the port sector to support
24-hour operations, as well as the dominant reliance on fossil energy which impacts
carbon emissions and operational costs. This study aims to analyze the technical
feasibility of implementing a Wind Power Plant (PLTB) as an environmentally friendly
alternative sustainable energy source in the pier area of Soekarno-Hatta Port, Makassar.
The research methodology employs a qualitative approach with secondary data analysis
regarding wind speed potential, turbine characteristics, and SWOT analysis. The results
indicate that the wind speed in the port's coastal area ranges from 2–3 m/s, which is
technically feasible for micro-scale PLTB to support the pier lighting system. The most
suitable type of turbine is the Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) due to its ability to
operate optimally at low wind speeds. The main recommendation is to develop a pilot
project integrated with the "green port" concept and a hybrid system to ensure a stable
supply of sustainable energy.
