Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the effect of effective working hours on the productivity of
pilotage and towage services at PT Langlang Laju Layang Palembang Branch, which
operates in Tanjung Tapa Waters. The background of this study is the less-than-optimal
management of pilots' working hours, which has resulted in increased ship waiting time
and reduced service productivity. The research employed a quantitative method using
simple linear regression analysis. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed
to 30 respondents who were operational employees of PT Langlang Laju Layang
Palembang Branch. The results of the study indicate that effective working hours have a
positive and significant effect on the productivity of pilotage and towage services. This is
evidenced by a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05 and a tcount value of 12.881, which is
greater than the ttable value of 2.048. The correlation coefficient (r) of 0.925 indicates a
very strong relationship between effective working hours and service productivity.
Furthermore, the coefficient of determination R Square value of 0.856 shows that the
effective working hours variable contributes 85.6% to the productivity of pilotage and
towage services, while the remaining 14.4% is influenced by other factors not examined
in this study. The regression equation obtained is Y = 6.227 + 0.848X, indicating that
every increase in effective working hours leads to an increase in service productivity The
conclusion of this study is that the more optimal the implementation of effective working
hours, the higher the productivity of pilotage and towage services at PT Langlang Laju
Layang Palembang Branch.
