Abstract:
This research aims to analyze the effect of ship crew performance on the condition of
fertilizer cargo on MV. Golden Destiny operated by PT. Pelita Samudera Indonesia.
Crew performance is a fundamental factor in cargo conditions to maintain fertilizer
quality during the voyage. Although standard operating procedures have been
implemented, various operational constraints such as limited crew understanding of
the hygroscopic nature of the cargo, lack of thoroughness in hatch inspection, and
extreme weather challenges are the main factors affecting cargo conditions. This
study uses a quantitative method with data collection techniques through observation,
questionnaires, and literature review, involving 30 respondents from the crew of MV.
Golden Destiny. The results of the analysis show a significant effect between crew
performance and the condition of fertilizer cargo, including aspects of loading
efficiency, accuracy of hatch monitoring, and responsiveness in maintaining cargo
stability. This research provides both theoretical and practical contributions to the
optimization of dry bulk loading management in order to be more efficient and
capable of maintaining cargo quality optimally in practice.
