Abstract:
This research was motivated by the need for a ship activity recording system during
anchorage operations that is more secure, efficient, and capable of maintaining data
integrity. The purpose of this study is to develop a blockchain-based Digital Deck
Logbook application called N-CORD as a monitoring and documentation tool for ships at
anchor. This research applied a Research and Development (R&D) approach with data
collection methods including observation, interviews, literature study, and system testing.
Blockchain technology was implemented to support data security through the concept of
immutability, ensuring that stored data cannot be easily altered. The system was also
designed with multi-user authentication to provide different access levels according to
each user’s duties and responsibilities. The results showed that the N-CORD application
assists watchkeeping officers in monitoring and recording ship activities in a more
structured, faster, and accessible manner. In addition, blockchain integration enhances
data integrity protection and increases reliability in ship operational documentation
processes. Based on the testing results, the system was considered capable of fulfilling
user needs in terms of functionality and ease of use. Therefore, the N-CORD application
can serve as a digital solution that supports the development of blockchain technology in
maritime operations, particularly for ship monitoring processes while at anchor.
