dc.description.abstract The use of B40 biodiesel fuel on board TB. Intan Megah 24 has caused problems in the diesel generator fuel system, leading to decreased performance and operational disturbances, such as unstable engine speed and blackout incidents. These problems are triggered by fuel quality degradation due to water contamination, oxidation, and sludge formation, as well as suboptimal injector performance that results in uneven fuel atomization. This study aims to analyze technical strategies for maintaining the quality of B40 fuel and to formulate maintenance strategies to sustain diesel generator performance during vessel operations. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach through onboard observation, interviews with the Chief Engineer and superintendent, and documentation studies of the Planned Maintenance System (PMS), log books, and manufacturer manuals. The analysis was conducted by comparing actual operating conditions with theories related to B40 biodiesel characteristics and diesel engine maintenance principles. The results indicate that B40 fuel quality can be maintained through proper management of clean and sealed fuel storage systems, routine drain water procedures, condition-based enhancement of filtration systems, and PMS adjustments that do not rely on conventional diesel fuel standards. In addition, preventive and condition-based injector maintenance through nozzle cleaning or replacement, injector calibration, and monitoring of exhaust gas temperature has been proven to improve atomization quality. Based on the findings of this study, integrated technical and maintenance strategies effectively ensure fuel supply stability and sustain the reliability and performance of the diesel generator during vessel operations. en_US
