This study aims to determine the effect of cargo valve seat ring failure on cargo
discharge efficiency aboard MT. Kuang and to measure the magnitude of its influence.
The research problem originates from seat ring damage that causes leakage in the
cargo pipeline system, allowing air to enter the cargo oil pump system and disrupting
cargo discharge operations. This study employed a quantitative research method using
a survey approach. Data were collected through field observations, documentation, and
questionnaires distributed to crew members involved in cargo handling operations. The
data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, correlation
analysis, coefficient of determination, simple linear regression, and hypothesis testing.
The results indicate that cargo valve seat ring failure has a significant effect on cargo
discharge efficiency aboard MT. Kuang. Damaged seat rings, inadequate maintenance
programs, and limited crew capability in detecting early signs of damage were
identified as the main contributing factors. These conditions disrupt cargo flow, reduce
cargo oil pump performance, prolong discharge operations, and decrease overall
operational efficiency. Therefore, improvements in preventive maintenance, routine
inspections, and crew training are essential to minimize the risk of cargo valve seat ring
failure and enhance cargo discharge efficiency aboard MT. Kuang. |
