Abstract:
This research aims to analyze the performance of the Air Conditioning System on the
comfort level of crew members in the accommodation spaces aboard MT. Polaris. The
research used a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques consisting
of observation, interviews, documentation, and literature study, while data analysis
employed the Fishbone Diagram method. The results showed that the decline in Air
Conditioning System performance was caused by machine, man, and method factors,
such as dirty air filters, damaged fan belts, magnetic contactor failures, ineffective
implementation of the planned maintenance system, and poor cleanliness in
accommodation spaces. These conditions caused room temperatures to increase to 27–
30°C from the ideal temperature of 22°C, reducing crew comfort. Efforts to overcome
these problems included routine maintenance, regular component replacement,
implementation of the planned maintenance system according to schedule, and general
cleaning to maintain optimal cooling system performance. Keywords: Air Conditioning
