| dc.description.abstract | The quality and shelf life of food supplies on board are highly dependent on the performance of the refrigeration system in the provision plant. This system plays a vital role in maintaining storage temperatures in accordance with the required standards, par- ticularly for animal and vegetable food products that are highly susceptible to deteriora- tion. Ineffective performance of the refrigeration system may lead to unstable storage temperatures, resulting in reduced food quality and shorter storage life. This study aims to identify and analyze the implementation of preventive maintenance on refrigeration machinery components in order to overcome unstable temperature conditions and low compressor suction pressure. The research was carried out based on sea practice experi- ence on board KM. Kelud, where several operational problems were encountered, in- cluding the inability of the cold room temperature to reach the required standard and the shortage of refrigerant within the refrigeration system. The findings of this study are ex- pected to provide useful guidance for the proper maintenance of ship refrigeration sys- tems, in order to ensure the quality of stored food supplies and to support the welfare and operational efficiency of the crew on board. | en_US |
