Cargo Oil Pump is an auxiliary machine on board a tanker that plays an
important role in loading and unloading operations. Its performance greatly affects the
smooth transfer of cargo between ship and shore. During sea practice on MT. Krasak, a
problem was identified in the form of decreased Cargo Oil Pump pressure caused by
bearing damage. After an overhaul, another problem was found, namely mechanical seal
leakage, which reduced pump performance and disrupted loading and unloading
activities.This study aims to identify the causes of these problems and determine
appropriate solutions. A descriptive qualitative method was used, with data collected
through observation, interviews, and documentation during sea practice on board. The
results showed that bearing wear was caused by inadequate greasing and errors in the
bearing heating process. Meanwhile, mechanical seal leakage was caused by excessive
pump vibration and insufficient inspection and maintenance. Alternative solutions
include providing optimal greasing, supervising bearing installation according to the
manual book, carrying out scheduled inspections and maintenance based on the Planned
Maintenance System (PMS), and ensuring adequate lubrication. These efforts are
expected to maintain optimal Cargo Oil Pump performance and support smooth loading
and unloading operations problìems. |
