dc.description.abstract This study discusses the optimization of the reliquefaction system in handling Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cargo on board MT. Victoria Lyra. The background of this study is based on the important role of the reliquefaction system in maintaining the stability of cargo pressure and temperature during the loading process and throughout the voyage. The reliquefaction system functions to convert gas vapor back into liquid form in order to prevent excessive pressure increase inside cargo tanks, maintain cargo temperature stability, and minimize cargo evaporation. The less optimal operation of the reliquefaction system may cause an increase in cargo tank pressure and temperature, which can disrupt LPG cargo handling operations. This study aims to identify the factors causing the reliquefaction system to operate less optimally in handling LPG cargo on board MT. Victoria Lyra and to determine the efforts made to optimize the performance of the system. The Research method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature study conducted during the author’s sea practice on board MT. Victoria Lyra. The results of the study indicate that the less optimal performance of the reliquefaction system is influenced by several factors, including the less optimal operation of the cargo compressor, ineffective cooling down process, increased ambient temperature, and inadequate maintenance of supporting equipment in the reliquefaction system. The impacts caused by these conditions include increased cargo tank pressure and temperature, disruption of the LPG loading process, and decreased cargo stability during operational activities. Efforts made to overcome these problems include carrying out routine maintenance of the reliquefaction system, improving monitoring of cargo tank pressure and temperature, conducting periodic inspections of the cargo compressor and condenser, and enhancing the coordination and understanding of officers and crew members regarding the operation of the reliquefaction system. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the reliquefaction system has a very important role in maintaining the stability of LPG cargo conditions so that the safety and smoothness of ship operations can be maintained optimally. en_US
