dc.description.abstract Overheating in ship engine systems is one of the major factors that can lead to machinery damage, operational downtime, and potential safety hazards on board. Therefore, an effective temperature monitoring system is essential to ensure safe and efficient engine performance. This research aims to develop and model a temperature sensor system to prevent overheating on board MT. Kartika 1. The study focuses on designing a reliable temperature monitoring model capable of providing early detection and warning when engine temperatures exceed safe operating limits.The research employs an experimental and prototype-based approach, in which temperature sensors are installed at critical engine components prone to overheating. The system is integrated with a microcontroller- based monitoring unit that processes temperature data in real time and activates an alarm or indicator when abnormal temperature conditions are detected. The modeling process includes calibration, system testing, and performance evaluation to ensure measurement accuracy and operational stability under engine room conditions.The results indicate that the developed temperature sensor model is capable of accurately detecting temperature fluctuations and providing timely warnings before critical overheating occurs. The system improves preventive maintenance practices, enhances operational safety, and reduces the risk of engine failure on board MT. Kartika 1. In conclusion, the implementation of a temperature sensor modeling system is an effective solution to support ship machinery reliability and prevent overheating incidents. Further improvements are recommended in sensor durability, integration with ship monitoring systems, and long-term performance optimization. en_US
