Abstract:
This research aims to analyze the impact of security equipment technology and its
maintenance on the performance of the KM. Spil Hasya ship. The primary focus of the
study is on the use of technologies such as the Automatic Identification System (AIS),
Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS), Vessel Monitoring System
(VMS), Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), and Alarm System, and their correlation with
improvements in safety, efficiency, and productivity on the ship. Issues identified in this
study include suboptimal maintenance of equipment, insufficient understanding of the
technologies used by the crew, and low levels of performance in utilizing security
equipment. The research employs a qualitative method through direct observation,
interviews with the crew, and documentation analysis. The findings indicate that while
security equipment technologies can improve safety and efficiency, their positive impact
is still limited due to challenges in operation and maintenance. Recommendations from
this study include enhanced crew training, routine equipment maintenance, and stronger
supervision of technology utilization to support better ship performance.
