Abstract:
Saragi, Andreas Danilo. 2025“Optimalisasi Pengawasan Terhadap Pelaksanaan
Pelashingan Peti Kemas Guna Meningkatkan Keselamatan Operasional MV. KMTC
Surabaya”
This study aims to optimize the supervision of container lashing implementation to
improve operational safety on board MV. KMTC Surabaya. The primary issues identified
include insufficient officer watch supervision during lashing activities, limited crew
understanding of proper lashing techniques, and non-compliance with standard operating
procedures (SOP). A descriptive qualitative approach was employed in this study. The
population consisted of all crew members aboard MV. KMTC Surabaya, with purposive
sampling applied. Data were collected through field observation, direct interviews,
documentation, and literature review. Data analysis was conducted qualitatively through
logical and systematic assessment of field findings. The results reveal that lashing
supervision was suboptimal due to limited direct oversight and the absence of a
standardized checklist for equipment inspection. Additionally, limited time allocated for
lashing activities negatively impacted effectiveness. The study proposes enhanced
supervision, periodic training, and consistent implementation of SOPs as key solutions.
In conclusion, improving supervision quality and crew competency in lashing techniques
is crucial to ensure safe maritime operations. The author recommends developing a
standardized inspection checklist, conducting lashing training programs for crew, and
implementing regular evaluations in accordance with IMO guidelines and company
policies.
