Saputra, Firman Seto. 2025. “Optimization of the Cargo Compressor Cooling System on
LPG/C Gas Walio Vessel”
The cooling system in the cargo compressor plays a vital role in maintaining the stability of
liquefied gas cargo temperature during transportation. On the LPG/C Gas Walio vessel, the
performance of the cooling system is a crucial factor in ensuring operational efficiency and safety.
This study aims to identify issues within the cooling system, particularly related to the
performance of the condenser, glycol circulation, and the effectiveness of the strainer. The
methods used include direct observation, interviews with crew members, and analysis of
operational data. The results show that strainer clogging and lack of routine maintenance reduce
cooling efficiency. As a solution, optimization measures were implemented, such as increasing
the frequency of auto backwash, regular cleaning of the pump filter, and strict monitoring of the
coolant level and quality. The implementation of these steps has proven effective in improving
temperature and pressure stability in the system and reducing the risk of disruptions to the cargo
compressor.
