Agustar, Vinky. 2024. “The Impact of Customs Regulations on the Operational
Efficiency of Shipping Agencies at PT. Pelayaran Nan Jaya”.
This research aims to analyze the influence of customs regulations on the operational
effectiveness of shipping agency services at PT. Pelayaran Nan Jaya. In practice, shipping
companies often encounter administrative issues, especially in completing the Import
Declaration (PIB) due to discrepancies in freight cost regulations between non-ASEAN
and ASEAN Asian countries. These discrepancies lead to delays in clearance processes,
administrative sanctions, and disruption of port operational flows. The study uses a
descriptive quantitative approach with a survey method involving questionnaires
distributed to 30 respondents from PT. Pelayaran Nan Jaya. Data were analyzed using
validity tests, reliability tests, simple linear regression, correlation coefficient, coefficient
of determination, and t-tests. The results show that customs regulations significantly
influence operational effectiveness. Inaccurate freight cost entries in PIB documents and
lack of information on regulatory differences between regions are the main causes of
operational barriers. The study recommends enhancing regulatory socialization by
relevant authorities, internal training for agency staff, and improvements in digital
documentation systems to enhance efficiency and compliance. This study explains the
magnitude of the correlation value which is 0.802 and explains the percentage of the
influence of the independent variable on the dependent variable called the coefficient of
determination which is the result of squaring r. It is understood that the independent
variable Customs Regulation (X) can explain the dependent variable Agency Operational
Effectiveness (Y) by 64.3% while the remaining 35.7% is explained by other factors not
examined by the author in this study |
