dc.description.abstract Pratomo Angga Putra, NRP. 364210964, “Optimization of Tank Cleaning from FAME to Methanol Cargo to Achieve a Satisfactory Wall Wash Test on MT. Hanyu Glory” This study was conducted to evaluate the implementation of cargo tank cleaning procedures on the oil tanker MT. Hanyu Glory, as well as to assess the extent to which the procedures align with operational standards established in the maritime industry, particularly in relation to occupationalsafety, operational efficiency, and compliance with international regulations such as ISGOTT (International Safety Guide for Oil Tankers and Terminals) and MARPOL (Marine Pollution). Tank cleaning is a crucial stage in tanker operations, especially during cargo changeovers or prior to inspections by relevant authorities. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a field study approach. Data were collected through direct observation of the tank cleaning process by crew members, on-site activity observation, and review of documentation related to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) used on the MT. Hanyu Glory. The results indicate that the tank cleaning process, including pre-cleaning, butterworthing, rinsing, drying, and gas freeing, was carried out in a systematic manner. However, several obstacles were identified during its implementation, such as limited cleaning tools, suboptimal technical conditions of equipment, and a lack of regular training for the crew on updated procedures. Based on the analysis, it is concluded that although the tank cleaning procedures have generally been carried out in accordance with existing basic standards, there is still room for improvement in terms of effectiveness and safety. These improvements can be achieved through equipment upgrades, enhancement of crew training systems, and regular monitoring and evaluation of SOP implementation on board. This study is expected to serve as a reference for shipping companies in improving the quality of operational management on oil tankers and in promoting more consistent implementation of international standards within Indonesia’s maritime industry. en_US
