dc.description.abstract Abraham Bagas Suryo Dewanto Sitorus. 363200435. "Efficiency Analysis of Draining and purging Methods in Cargo Manifold Pipelines on LNG Carrier SS. Tangguh Batur" With the rapid advancement of technology, the LNG transportation and cargo unloading processes are expected to run smoothly and safely. This research highlights operational challenges on the LNG carrier SS Tangguh Batur, specifically the draining and purging procedures in the manifold pipeline prior to loading arm release. The sudden shift from the spray line method to the main line without proper valve feasibility and nitrogen pressure analysis has caused residual methane liquid to remain in the pipeline, delaying arm disconnection and potentially leading to a Letter of Protest due to berthing delays. Using a qualitative approach, this study combines direct observations during two sea practice contracts, interviews with the Chief Officer and Gas Engineer, and reviews of operational documents. The collected data is systematically organized into a descriptive narrative. The researcher analyzes the efficiency of the draining and purging methods used before arm disconnection operations on the SS Tangguh Batur. The results of this study reveal that the absence of standardized methods and inadequate procedural socialization are the root causes of obstacles. Key recommendations include: consistent use of the spray line according to the initial agreement with the terminal; documentation and display of draining and purging procedures in the Cargo Control Room; pre-berthing checks on valve conditions and piping systems; as well as integrated training and cargo meetings to strengthen crew coordination. The implementation of these solutions is expected to accelerate draining and purging operations, minimize safety risks, and improve the time efficiency of LNG carrier berthing. en_US
