Dewi, Deswita Elytianti. 2025. “The Influence of Vessel Delays and Inadequate
Shipping Process Planning on Cargo Delivery by Sea Freight at PT World Source
Indonesia”.
This study evaluates the impact of vessel schedule delays and inefficiencies in cargo
shipment planning on the extended lead time at PT World Source Indonesia. Lead time is
a critical performance indicator in the supply chain as it reflects the speed and effectiveness
of delivery from the ordering process to the receipt of goods by the customer. In practice,
the company faces obstacles in meeting delivery timeliness, which affects operational
performance and customer satisfaction. This research employs a quantitative approach
through surveys and interviews with logistics and operations department personnel. The
finding indicate that vessel delays significantly prolong lead time due to uncertainties in
shipping schedules and limited cargo capacity. Furthermore, poor logistics planning, such
as unprepared documentation and inaccurate delivery schedules, exacerbates the delays.
The study concludes that both factors contribute significantly to lead time extensions.
Therefore, it is recommended that the company strengthen its logistics planning system and
establish a partnership with reliable shipping service providers. |
