Syahril Qoeri. 364211007. 2025. “Evaluation of Cargo Security System on
Ro-Ro Ships to Prevent Cargo Damage”.
This study aims to evaluate the cargo security system on Ro-Ro ships to prevent
cargo damage, with a case study on the MV. Dream Angel. The research focuses on
two main issues: (1) suboptimal conditions of ship infrastructure, particularly the
ramp door and cargo access, and (2) reduced effectiveness of cargo securing devices
such as lashing and securing devices. A qualitative descriptive method was
employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation
studies. The results indicate that the primary causes of these issues are the
suboptimal implementation of the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) and
inadequate routine maintenance of hydraulic components and lashing. Proposed
solutions include increasing maintenance frequency, crew education, and regular
visual inspections. This research is expected to serve as a reference for shipping
companies to enhance the safety and operational efficiency of Ro-Ro ships. |
