Usage to Maintain LNG Tank Pressure Stability on PGN FSRU Lampung Vessel”
This research is titled “Optimization of Gas Combustion Unit (GCU) Usage to Maintain
LNG Tank Pressure Stability on PGN FSRU Lampung Vessel.” The study aims to
analyze two major issues encountered on board the PGN FSRU Lampung: (1) The
irregular regasification schedule, and (2) The ineffective timing and suboptimal operation
of the GCU due to this irregular schedule and technical disturbances such as trips and
blackouts. A qualitative method was used, involving direct observation of the
regasification process and GCU operation. Data were collected from operational logs,
crew interviews, and equipment manual references. The analysis revealed that irregular
regasification schedules lead to the accumulation of Boil-Off Gas (BOG) in storage tanks,
resulting in increased tank pressure and the need for timely GCU activation. However,
the GCU was often underutilized due to uncoordinated scheduling and insufficient
operational readiness. Proposed solutions include implementing an integrated
regasification scheduling system with the off-taker (PT PGN), standardizing GCU
activation procedures, optimizing GCU operation to its maximum designed capacity, and
introducing an integrated monitoring and alarm system to improve responsiveness. The
findings are expected to support improvements in the efficiency and safety of FSRU
operations. |
