Gidion Alvines Simbolon, 2025 "Analysis of the Causes of Degradation of Performance
in Fuel Oil Purifiers on MV. DREAM ANGEL"
This study was conducted to analyze the causes of the decline in performance in the fuel
oil purifier on the MV. Dream Angel. The main problems found are the amount of fuel
that comes out through the outlet of the sludge purifier and the decrease in liquid pressure
in the fuel oil purifier system. These two problems cause the process of separating fuel
from water and dirt to be suboptimal. This research method uses a qualitative approach
with data collected during sea practice on MV. Dream Angel. Data analysis was carried
out using fishbone diagrams. The results of the study concluded that the amount of fuel
that came out of the sludge purifier outlet was caused by a mismatch between gravity disc
and the specific gravity of the fuel. Meanwhile, the decrease in liquid pressure is caused
by the clogging of the suction strainer in the feed pump and the occurrence of fuel
overflow, To overcome this, the solution applied selects the gravity disc correctly
according to the number, maintains the stability of the fuel temperature, and performs
periodic maintenance and cleaning of the fuel oil purifier components. This research is
expected to be an input for ship practitioners in improving the efficiency of fuel oil
purifier performance. |
