Handling During Loading and Unloading to Prevent Overflow on Tanker Vessel MT.
Griya Enim”.
Overflow of liquid cargo on tanker vessels is one of the operational risks that can lead to
material losses, marine environmental pollution, and endanger the safety of the crew. This
study aims to analyze the causes of overflow during cargo operations on the MT. Griya
Enim and to formulate effective preventive measures. The method used is a descriptive
qualitative case study based on a one-year sea practice experience aboard the vessel. The
results of the study indicate that overflow incidents were caused by the suboptimal function
of the cargo monitoring system due to a lack of regular maintenance and insufficient
technical support from the company regarding cargo handling equipment. Preventive
efforts included creating a scheduled maintenance plan for the monitoring system,
conducting routine manual checks by duty officers, and improving coordination between
the vessel and the terminal. The conclusion highlights the importance of effective
supervision, equipment readiness, and prompt response in addressing operational
disruptions to ensure that cargo handling activities run safely and efficiently. |
