dc.description.abstract The Inert gas system (IGS) is a critical component in supporting the operational safety of tanker ships by preventing fires caused by flammable cargo vapors. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness and common issues within the IGS, particularly on the MT. Amarin Indah, and to formulate maintenance optimization strategies. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through observation, interviews, and technical documentation reviews. The findings indicate that disturbances in components such as the scrubber, blower, and control valve frequently occur due to inadequate routine maintenance, resulting in oxygen levels exceeding safe standards. Optimizing maintenance, conducting regular inspections, and providing crew training are key strategies to improve system reliability and ensure compliance with international safety standards such as SOLAS and the ISM Code. en_US
