dc.description.abstract The preparation of cargo tank spaces is a critical stage in supporting the loading process on tanker vessels, especially for chemical cargoes such as C9+ that are highly sensitive to contamination. This study aims to analyze the factors that hinder the optimization of tank preparation on MT. Woo Jong and to propose solutions for improving operational efficiency and safety. A qualitative descriptive method was applied, with data collected through direct observation, interviews with ship officers, and literature review. The findings reveal two main issues: insufficient time and equipment during the tank cleaning process, and a lack of knowledge and skills among deck crew regarding cleaning and maintenance procedures. These factors led to delays in loading, suboptimal tank cleaning results, and equipment failures such as damaged Butterworth machines. Recommended solutions include the provision of adequate spare equipment, scheduled maintenance planning, and the implementation of regular training and drills for the deck crew. This research is expected to serve as a practical reference to enhance the quality of tank preparation on tanker vessels, ensuring efficient, safe, and standard-compliant loading operations. en_US
