ANALISIS PENERAPAN STANDAR OPERASIONAL PROSEDUR (SOP) PENGELOLAAN RUANG MUAT PADA PROSES BONGKAR MUAT DI MV. LUMOSO DAMAI

Abstract

MV. Lumoso Damai frequently experiences delays in the loading and unloading process due to unprepared cargo holds. These delays are mainly caused by hatch covers failing to open because of leaking hydraulic pipes, as well as disruptions during the cleaning process inside the holds caused by damaged ladders. As a result, the cargo space remains dirty and unsuitable for loading, significantly hindering loading and unloading operations. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in the management of cargo holds during cargo operations on board MV. Lumoso Damai. The main focus of the research is on the inconsistency in performing routine maintenance of hydraulic pipes and hold ladders, as well as the lack of effective crew training in handling equipment failures. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, employing observation, interviews, and documentation carried out during onboard sea training. The results show that the SOPs on board are not consistently implemented, as evidenced by frequent damage to hydraulic pipes and ladders, which causes delays in cargo operations. This study recommends regular training sessions for crew members, enhanced supervision by officers in enforcing SOPs, and more systematic documentation of technical inspections to improve the efficiency and safety of cargo operations. Effective SOP implementation is identified as a key factor in maintaining cargo hold readiness and ensuring smooth maritime logistics operations.
