Abstract:
This study aims to determine the effect of work motivation on the performance of ship
crews at PT Topaz Maritime. High work motivation is believed to improve the
performance of ship crews, who play a crucial role in the success of maritime operations.
This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method through the distribution
of questionnaires to 70 respondents selected using simple random sampling technique.
The collected data were analyzed using simple linear regression tests, validity and
reliability tests, and the coefficient of determination with the assistance of SPSS version
29. The results show that work motivation has a positive and significant effect on the
performance of ship crews. Factors such as income, recognition, work environment, and
career opportunities contribute to motivation levels, which in turn impact performance.
Therefore, the company management should enhance efforts in providing sustainable
motivation to achieve optimal ship crew performance.
