Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the factors affecting the safety of car cargo to prevent cargo
damage aboard the Car Carrier MV. DREAM BEAUTY. During voyages, vehicle cargo
is highly susceptible to damage caused by vessel movement, especially under extreme
weather conditions or when securing systems such as lashing become worn out. The
research employed a descriptive qualitative approach through direct observation,
documentation, and case studies conducted during sea practice aboard the vessel. The
results indicate that extreme weather and lashing deterioration are the main factors
contributing to cargo displacement and potential damage. As a solution, regular
inspections, replacement of damaged lashing equipment, and crew training on proper
securing techniques are recommended. With the implementation of these measures, it is
expected that cargo safety will be maintained and the risk of accidents during voyages
will be minimized.
