Abstract:
This thesis discusses efforts to prevent the loss of coal cargo on the MV. Lumoso Kasih
during loading activities. Maritime shipping plays a crucial role in the distribution of
goods, and the transportation of coal using bulk carriers is one of the most efficient
methods. However, during the loading process, there is often a loss of cargo due to various factors, such as the suboptimal use of floating cranes, inadequate supervision, and
unfavorable weather conditions. This research aims to identify the causes of cargo loss
and provide alternative solutions to enhance loading efficiency. The methodology
employed in this study is qualitative descriptive, with data collection through observation,
interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that a lack of equipment
maintenance, insufficient oversight, and the absence of clear procedures are the main
factors contributing to cargo loss. Therefore, it is recommended to implement stricter
loading procedures, enhance crew training, and conduct weather risk analyses prior to
loading. By taking these steps, it is expected that the efficiency of coal loading can be
improved, thereby reducing economic losses and increasing trust between producers and
consumers.
