ANALISIS IMPLEMENTASI SISTEM PURCHASE REQUEST TERHADAP KELANCARAN PENGOPERASIAN KAPAL DI PT. PCS INTERNASIONAL

Abstract

In the era of globalization and rapid technological advancement, the maritime transportation sector plays a vital role in supporting economic growth, particularly in developing countries such as Indonesia. PT. PCS Internasional, a prominent Indonesian shipping company, holds a strategic role in distributing oil, chemical, and gas cargoes across the archipelago. To ensure the smooth operation of its fleet, the company relies heavily on efficient and timely procurement processes, especially for spare parts and critical equipment. However, the current Purchase Request (PR) process is still conducted manually, leading to various operational challenges such as delays in request submissions and approvals, data inaccuracies, and a lack of transparency and traceability. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Purchase Request system at PT. PCS Internasional and identify the existing limitations, with a focus on the underutilization of digital technology and internet connectivity issues during offshore operations. The research adopts a qualitative approach through direct observation and documentation analysis within the company. The findings indicate that manual processes are no longer adequate to meet the demands for efficiency and speed in spare parts procurement. Furthermore, the lack of system integration contributes to poor inventory management and ineffective budgeting. The implementation of a digitally integrated procurement system offers a viable solution to address these issues. Such a system can significantly streamline request submissions and approvals, enhance data accuracy, and provide real-time traceability of procurement activities. Nonetheless, the successful deployment of this system faces challenges related to limited internet connectivity aboard ships operating in remote waters. Therefore, the development of satellite-based and hybrid communication systems is essential to maintain consistent access to procurement platforms under unstable network conditions. In conclusion, the digitization of the Purchase Request system is expected to improve fleet operational efficiency, optimize spare part management, and support the sustainability of shipping operations amid the growing demands of globalization and digital transformation.
